Dr. John Wayne Wilson is a gifted therapist and public speaker providing therapy services to families, couples, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Wilson focuses on resolving the issues that bring you to therapy and helping you establish or reestablish a thriving, more fulfilling, and enjoyable life. Dr. Wilson's first step is to help you identify the goals you seek to accomplish. Using powerful yet gentle methods, Dr. Wilson will employ therapy approaches to enliven and release the energy of growth you already posses. Through therapy Dr. Wilson can help you fulfill your goals and grow beyond the negative patterns of your past and empower you to move forward within your life.

Therapy is not magic, mystical, or something that is done to you. You are not a passive participant in the therapeutic process. Therapy is an alliance between you and Dr. Wilson supporting you in gaining more understanding, improving your relationships, and making the needed changes in your life you feel are necessary. For your therapy to be effective you must be willing to make a strong commitment to change, willingness to tolerate some discomfort, compassion for yourself and others, and a curiosity about how your mind works. Therapy is most effective when you put forth a consistent and honest effort towards self-reflection, openness, and change.

Individual therapy involves meeting with a Dr. Wilson one-on-one for the purpose of reducing internal suffering which may occur in the form of problematic behaviors, irrational beliefs, painful feelings, and/or psychosomatic responses (sensations in the body). Therapy is a common and useful means of self-growth and self-actualization for many people. Therapy can help you confront barriers which interfere with your emotional, mental, and physical well-being. Therapy may help you increase feelings such as joy, compassion, peace, self-esteem, spiritual connection, and love.

"If you wish to achieve worthwhile things in your personal and career life, you must become a worthwhile person in your own self development."

Couples who are experiencing relationship and communication problems are often benefited from meeting with Dr. Wilson for the purpose of improving their relationship. Additionally, a couple within a loving relationship may also benefit from couples therapy when then are considering or have made a long term commitment to each other by exploring what brings you two together for matrimony or partnership. Couple therapy takes a holistic approach by making the primary focus of the therapy on the relationship, rather than solely on the individuals in the relationship. The focus of therapy counseling is often on exploring the quality of the relationship for both partners as individuals and as a couple.

"Don't leave the one you love for the one you like, because the one you like will leave you for the one they love."

Family Therapy focuses on all relationships within the family unit. Therapy takes place with other family members present in the session. Family therapy may be the primary focus of treatment, or it could be used as a supplement to individual therapy. In family therapy, the family is seen as a "whole" system, rather than just as the sum of its individual members. As in individual and group therapy, family therapy is used to approach a wide variety of therapeutic goals. Rather than viewing problems as owned and caused by a particular family member, family therapy helps to identify the ways that relationship and individual problems are caused and maintained by the family unit as a whole.

"A good family life is never an accident, but always an achievement by those who share it."
